The Dark Knight

December 5th, 2008

For some reason The Dark Knight really hit home with me.  There were so many different aspects of the movie that I liked and I wanted to remind you the DVD release is December 9th!

Journals

October 31st, 2008

I have decided to start writing a journal.  Reasoning behind this is because there is so much I want to say every day that I cannot say to anyone but myself and I will no doubt forget it the next day.   I used to write in one when I was younger and it was always fun to read years later.  It was like looking into the past.  I am going to use a computer instead of a book because of convenience and I recommend everyone to do so as well.

Time

October 7th, 2008

There comes a time in life when it seems as if a veil is lifted.  That veil is the last shred of innocence that we can claim to hold.  As children, thought processes are limited to singular understanding leading to naive, confused and irrational ideas and decisions.  This innocence protects us from the potential scary reality that is our society.  Time is precious and costly.  I can’t even remember what exactly I used to think that was outrageous.  Without enough cognitive development you can’t expect children to come up with logical or sensible ideas to external stimuli.  Ignorance and naiveté are precious things as a child and personally its a simpler time that I will always miss.  The cliché that you miss things once they are gone has to be said here.  The passage of time is an eternal enemy and it will always haunt us for what we lost or what we never did.

Lets go Lakers.  They begin the Conference Finals on Wednesday for the first time since 2004 and will face the winner of the game 7 tonight against San Antonio and New Orleans.  Game 1 will be in LA no matter their opponent.

Moving On

May 19th, 2008

I feel compelled to mention something that has been on my mind for some time. If something is blocking your path in life, instead of spending time dwelling on what could have been, you need to use that blockade to better yourself in whatever way possible. The energy spent on complaining and misery is wasteful. If you cannot get rid of your trouble, then you must simply adapt so that you make the best of what you still have. Life is too short to waste any time in your life. Live without regrets. Be passionate about something and live it up. The old saying never gets old that you should live your life today like tomorrow will never come. Everyone makes mistakes and gets caught up in personal roadblocks. It is what you do once you realize that there is more than what you have lost.

I am Back

May 13th, 2008

After successfully joining Phi Alpha Delta, I will now return to full time blogging.  However, certain final exams are looming( one in three hours) so the long awaited entry will have to wait until my studying is complete.

Saddening

February 19th, 2008

I have come to realize just how much of a lost hobby reading is becoming. So many people around me have expressed that they rarely read any books at all. And when that rarity occurs, it is usually because they are forced by school assignments. I find this more than just sad, it is depressing. Reading is such an unmatched way to escape the real world, and enjoy the fictional places that are so unique. I have always appreciated the nature of a good book and I have a tendency to reread them to often. So much ignorance in this world stems from lack of knowledge and lack of understanding. Reading fictional and non-fictional books are key to getting a grasp on knowledge. I want to recommend to everyone to find some time in your lives to pick up a book. Instead of so much time in front of the television, or the mirror, or even out with your friends, spend some of it making yourself better off.  NOTHING beats a great book.

Top 5 Recommend List:

1. Prey by Michael Crichton, 2. Ender’s Game by Orson Scott Card, 3. Waiting by Frank Robinson, 4. Harry Potter series by J.K. Rowling, 5. Deception Point by Dan Brown

VOTE

February 3rd, 2008

If you are registered to vote, please vote on your scheduled primary day.  If you are not registered to vote, then register today.  You have been given the a freedom, and that is to keep your politicians in check through elections.  The excuse often used is that “I don’t care about politics, I am too busy with my own life to worry about it,” and it is ridiculous.  Our governmental leaders control everything that people take for granted.  Roads, taxes, police, fire departments and many others.  So, it seems that if anyone enjoys those seemingly obvious services, then they should care who is in charge of ensuring that those services continue to function to a necessary standard.

So my long drawn out point that most assuredly left behind what few readers I have, is that if you choose not to vote, then don’t ever complain about anything that has anything to do with any and all types of government.  SO VOTE!

West Wing

February 3rd, 2008

It’s hard to understand why everyone has not seen West Wing. I of course will give a pass to those who really have never heard of it. But to those that have heard of it and not seen it, you are missing out.

This Emmy award winning show is by far the best show that has been on T.V. hands down. The show, which centers around the Presidency of fictional character Josiah Bartlet, is casted better than any one could dream. The stories and screenplay far outstrip any close competitors. Every story grabs you and once you get embedded into the general story it is difficult to stop watching. Just look to my friend, (who for his sake will be referred to as George), who successfully spent a fair portion of a semester watching it’s first six seasons. Its addictive nature is hard to describe.

Even though you may find politics boring, (which I find difficult to understand) this show will either prove to you that it is in fact exciting (especially with Hollywood drama attached) or it will prove to you that the acting and production will make what may seem boring into something magical.

I am not exaggerating this. I could watch this series a thousand times over and still consider it the best ever!

Romney’s faults, or just musings of why he annoys me

January 31st, 2008

Let me make things very clear about Mitt Romney.  I do not in any way have a problem with his religion.  In fact, having nothing to do with me having once been apart of it, I will defend him when someone attacks his credibility as a candidate based on his religion.  Even though we disagree across the board on a number of issues, his religion is not running for president.

Those issues however are just a number of reasons why he creates so much of my hatred.  He and McCain continually make the point that they will stay in Iraq until the war is won, regardless of the costs, consequences or problems.  These costs of life, treasure and allies have been invisible to our current President and it seems that Romney will ignore them as well.  We MUST get out of Iraq as soon as humanly possible.  And it seems that with the exception of Ron Paul, Republicans are not going to do this.  Hence, the lack of voting for one.

Romney’s speeches and his participation in the debates has this effect of causing self-inflicting injuries to his audience.  I boil inside when he talks, he invokes a nauseous sense with his belittling and pompous attitude.

His political strategy of attack and cover, where he will spend numerous millions on attack ads and then publicly act like he is innocent.  A.K.A. New Hampshire debates where he asked to not engage in political attacks while his very own attack ads  ran through public airspace.

My point is his candidacy is one that does not inspire comfort and draws on ignorant voters who truly don’t realize just how scary it would be with this man in office.  I encourage people to make their own opinions though, as I am half the time categorically wrong, (well maybe not half the time, perhaps a quarter) and the other part mostly just right but skewing it slightly.

Feel free to point out the errors of my way, or talk about any of the candidates!
